What is a no-confidence motion?
In parliamentary procedure, a no-confidence motion or a vote of confidence (alternatively a vote of no-confidence) or a censure motion is a parliamentary motion. It is traditionally put into the House by the opposition in the hope of removing or weakening a government. This process is adopted when two years of the tenure of the Zilla Parishad Chairman and Block Chief have passed. After the opposition submits the memorandum of no-confidence motion, the date for bringing the no-confidence motion is fixed by the District Magistrates cum District Election Officer. After that, both the parties present their respective points in the House. After that, councilors and Panchayat Samiti members in the block vote for and against the candidates for the no-confidence motion. During that time, the one in whose favor the number of votes is more than half, again occupies the chair.
